Vikings prepare for "Valhalla"

September 18, 2004

Vikings 28-  Saints -6

The Saints home opener didn't go as planned but had some upsides to it.

It was the second half before the Offense got their "sea legs", then proceeded to move the ball at will. This group will improve exponentially throughout the year.
Rookie QB Ryan Nolan had an extraordinary outing in his first high school appearance. Running Back Sheldon Boucher racked up over 100 yards on the ground in his first ever football game and Fullback Chris Wilkes punched one in from the 2 yard line.

Defensively the second half was better for us as well, Kevin Reid, John Ritchie, Ryan McLean, Peter McDade and Chris Arseneau all recorded multiple QB sacks. Ryan McLean also intercepted a pass and returned it 30 yards from the line of scrimmage. Matt Belyea knocked down two big passes from the Vikes.

The special teams squad struggled often and early but settled down later in the game.
We look forward to seeing the Vikings again this season.

Saints - 12   HV - 46

The Saints Hit Squad and Defence struggled throughout the day, unable to contain the Viking running game.
John Brideau powered his way to a 65 yard touchdown run in the first quarter and Sheldon Boucher kicked in with a 75 td run of his own in the fourth quarter.
Boucher, Brideau, Chris Wiles and Tom McKenzie combined for nearly 400 running yards.
